About Jay Muelhoefer

Jay Muelhoefer is the Global Marketing Executive for Platform Computing under the Technical Computing growth initiative in IBM’s Systems and Technology Group. IBM Platform Computing provides systems management software for clusters, grids, big data analytics, and HPC cloud. In his role, Jay manages the full scope of global marketing activities including thought leadership, marketing strategy, demand generation, sales enablement, content marketing, and product marketing. Jay joined IBM in 2012 as part of IBM’s acquisition of Platform Computing. At Platform Computing, Jay managed the full marketing organization and spearheaded their entry into private cloud management, securing top analyst evaluations and industry awards. Prior to Platform, Jay served as Chief Marketing Officer of a database monitoring startup, General Manager for a SaaS business, and VP of Channel Business Development at Parametric Technology. His early career was as a product engineer for Schlumberger and strategy consultant for Booz Allen & Hamilton. Jay holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Masters and Bachelors in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He resides outside of Boston, Massachusetts and spends time playing ice hockey, chasing his kids, and trying to keep his veterinary wife from acquiring too many pets. IBM Powers Red Bull Racing’s Record-Setting Formula One Season

Formula One is all about leading-edge technology and speed. Red Bull Racing just had another championship-winning performance by designing and running the best racing cars on the track. At every step, IBM Platform Computing — acquired by IBM in 2012 — powered Red Bull Racing’s high performance application infrastructure for both design applications such as computational fluid dynamics as well as near real-time race analytics, helping them clinch the win.

IBM Improves Performance, Costs of Hadoop

This week, both New York City and Las Vegas will be awash in Big Data enthusiasts. The “city that never sleeps” is hosting the O’Reilly Strata + Hadoop World Conference and celebrating its “Data Week,” which “explores the people, industries, and organizations using data to fuel innovation in New York City.” Over in “sin city” it’s the IBM Information on Demand Conference.
