PowerLinux Update: Big Data and Open Source Infrastructure

Since we launched these solutions in April, we’ve been pretty busy. Interest has been steadily growing around our solutions optimized for big data analytics and critical network infrastructure services.

Businesses, business partners, and solution developers – from all over the world and all kinds of industries – are telling us that infrastructure that was “good enough” a few short years ago just isn’t cutting it anymore. They’re tired of running out of headroom, tired of explaining downtime to their customers, tired of going it alone when it comes to building (and supporting) solutions they can use. They’re excited that PowerLinux finally gives them some better and more economical choices. And they love the potential PowerLinux has to make Linux better for everyone.

We’re pleased to announce that we’re expanding the portfolio of PowerLinux offerings in a few key ways. On the hardware side, we’re introducing the PowerLinux 7R1 rack server, a one-socket complement to our existing PowerLinux server options. This server significantly lowers the entry cost for customers choosing one of our solutions to deploy. Additionally, we’re making new external I/O expansion drawers available to give additional choices that are unprecedented in the commodity server space.

Of course, PowerLinux has never been about just the hardware. We’re continuing to expand and refine our solution offerings, providing an open source Hadoop solution for business innovators who need a platform to support emerging big data projects, and a solution for dependable, secure, and economical infrastructure services designed for government applications.

If you or your customers are looking for better choices than what commodity hardware solutions offer you, checking out these solutions is definitely worth your time. ITIC agrees, in an analysis they’ve published on the April launch of PowerLinux.
